Abstract

The study of the theory of religious pluralism in human thought in general, and in philosophy and religious thought in particular, is necessary and must be known, for two things the first relates to the cognitive, intellectual and philosophical aspect of knowing and studying religious diversity in human societies, with all aspects related to it, and the second relates to On the practical side, a person must choose the religion that he believes in is true, and that leads him to his desired goal, provided that his choice is based on evidence, belief and contemplation, and that he is a firm mind of faith and away from the whims and psychological, customary, social and tribal desires and others, it is he who will bear the consequences of a His choice. And that the purpose of the research topic is to establish and know the reasons and reasons that led to the emergence and spread of the theory of religious pluralism in the Western and Islamic world, which occupied the minds of researchers and thinkers, and it has aroused people's interest in it, despite the criticisms leveled against it and reservations by some. For this reason, the researcher sought to explain the rooting of the concept of religious pluralism according to the definition of the concept in terms of language and terminology, along with an indication of the historical roots, causes, objectives, and philosophical and intellectual framework of pluralism.
