This study addresses one of the contemporary intellectual issues that endeavors to cast doubt on the authority of the Prophetic Sunnah and calls for relying solely on the Holy Qur’an as the only source of legislation. The study adopts an analytical and critical investigation to، through analyzing thier views stated and comparing them with the authentic Islamic sources.
The study reveals the contradictions within this school of thought and the weakness of its scientific foundations. It demonstrates that relying on the Qur’an alone, without the Sunnah, leads to the suspension of Islamic legislation, confusion in religious understanding, and undermining the essence of the Prophetic message. Moreover, it confirms that the true authority in understanding the Qur’an lies with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his Household). Separating the Qur’an from the Sunnah is، in essence, a call to abolish Islam and make it hollow. At last, the present study recommends deepening awareness of the danger posed by such ideas, emphasizing the importance of teaching the authority of the Sunnah and its inseparable connection to the Qur’an, and encouraging the preparation of in-depth critical studies to confront trends that seek to question the sources and foundations of Islam.
