كان لنشأة الشاعر الدينيّة والاسلاميّة سبب في توجه الشاعر عبد المنعم الفرطوسي الى الشعر الملتزم العقائدي، وهو في هذا واكب كبار الشعراء الذي عرفوا بالالتزام والثبات على قول الحق من قبيل الكميت بن زيد الاسدي ودعبل الخزاعي وغيرهم كثير، وكان ديوانه قد حمل في طياته عبق الولاء والثبات على حبّ أهل البيت ـ عليهم السلام
