ان المهمة الرئيسية لهذا البحث هي استقصاء ما تناثر من شعر الفرزدق على هيأة أبيات منفردة او مقطوعات قصيرة وردت في مصادر مختلفة ولكونها لم ترد في ديوانه المنشور نشرات كثيرة , لذا عقدت العزم وبذلت الجهد من اجل جمع ما تتأثر في تلك المصادر الكثيرة المتفرقة وجمعته في هذا البحث الذي جعلته مستدركا على الديوان ليلحق به .وقد رتبت المستدرك
على طريقة الدواوين وهي حرف الروي وخرجتها بحسب مصادرها وبينت ذلك في الهوامش وأرجو أن يكون عملي هذا مستوفيا لشروط البحث العلمية التي اتبعتها الدراسات المعروفة
