Psychological counseling is one of the branches of applied psychology. This branch has developed rapidly in the last century, and theories have been developed for it that include all its fields that serve human life, movement, and vitality from birth until old age, through all educational stages, the work stage, and social, family, and institutional life, including the sports institution, represented by event athletes. Team and individual sports.
The problem of the research lies in identifying the guidance needs to reduce sports competition anxiety and whether psychological counseling sessions can reduce the sports competition anxiety that badminton players encounter. The study aimed to identify the level of anxiety among the players in the research sample, as well as to identify the effect of guidance sessions in reducing their anxiety. The researchers assumed that Guidance sessions have a positive effect on reducing anxiety in sports competition among the research sample consisting of 28 players on whom the study was conducted by distributing an anxiety test form, as well as conducting guidance sessions consisting of 12 sessions, the duration of the session being 30, in two pre- and post-tests. After collecting the data and processing it statistically using the SPSS statistical package, we found The researchers indicated that the players have a high level of competition anxiety and that the counseling sessions have had a positive effect in reducing their anxiety. The researchers have recommended the necessity of taking the psychological aspect into play in sports preparation and when conducting training units, in addition to psychological counseling sessions and lectures for the players.
