The Effect of the Assessment and Competition Method on Developing Legal Knowledge among Taekwondo Players Aged 15–17 Years

Abstract

The research problem stemmed from the fact that players’ understanding and proper application of Taekwondo rules can play a decisive role in determining the outcomes of matches in various competitive situations. Therefore, coaches need to employ modern methods to effectively communicate the provisions of the rules to players. One such method is the assessment and competition method.

The study aimed to investigate the effect of the assessment and competition method on the legal knowledge of Taekwondo players aged 15–17 years and to adapt a legal knowledge scale for Taekwondo players. The researchers employed a one-group experimental design, as it was appropriate for the nature of the research problem. The legal knowledge scale was adapted for Taekwondo players, and a pre-test was administered before implementing the main experiment. Following the completion of the experimental program, a post-test was conducted.

After presenting, analyzing, and interpreting the results, the researchers concluded that the assessment and competition method had a positive effect on enhancing the players’ learning and legal knowledge. Accordingly, they recommended adopting modern methods in the training process.
