Abstract

The research paper titled (Infringements of the bandits on public and private property in Iraq (247-447 AH) and the official and societal position on them) aims to shed light on the organization of the bandits and the reasons for calling them that and the groups that joined under this organization; which were known by other names, as well as a presenting their most important characteristics and the society’s view of them and the advantages that distinguished them  out.

       But what is important in the research paper and its main focus is the infringements that bandits carried out during the study period on public and private properties, which had negative effects on various security, political, economic and social levels, and to show the official and societal positions towards those infringements.

As for the official, it was represented by the authorities’ responses that centered between adopting the path of force at times and adopting other methods that focused on negotiations and pretending at other times.

While the societal positions adopted two axes; The first was represented by the positions of the noble’s chiefs and jurists, which they often tended to side with peace and mediation to stop the transgressions of the bandits, while the public took positions that were characterized by conciliation once and the adoption of the option of force to put an end to their transgressions at other times.
