Abstract

The accelerating events in the marshlands consisted of forced displacement due to the Iran-Iraq war and the subsequent systematic process of the previous regime to drain the marshes, which led to major environmental changes at the level of the natural environment or the human environment, which created an environment significantly different from what it was before the process of draining the marshes, which It requires finding ways and means to ensure the achievement of two goals at the same time, which is the return of water, even if partially, and according to the climatic and political conditions in the upstream countries (Turkey and Iran). We took the marshes of Suq Al-Shuyoukh district, which is one of the districts of Dhi Qar Governorate, as a study area and it can be applied to other marsh areas with different social factors and the specificity of each area. This is to prepare a model for the distribution of rural settlement centers according to the data of the place, taking into account the creation of specialized centers and villages Agricultural activity and craft industries.
