Abstract

Patriotism is an innate instinct that a person has built upon because of his love and attachment to the homeland. Since the pre-Islamic era, poets have expressed the sincerity of their feelings towards the homeland through their longing for homes and crying over antiquities and ruins. Through successive eras, the homeland was called all the Arab countries in general, and the concept of the homeland did not have a special significance for the Arabs, because their lives were characterized by nomadism and instability somewhere. The concept of the homeland has evolved little by little until it acquired a special significance in the contemporary era, where the homeland is the birthplace of man and the place of his upbringing. Hence, we see that the phenomenon of patriotism appeared more clearly in contemporary Arabic poetry.
