Abstract

This research seeks to reveal the reality of the problem of air pollution in the holy city of Najaf and to identify the most important sources and factors affecting its different temporal and spatial dimensions. It turns out: -

1- The amount of dust falling in the holy city of Najaf was large, especially in the summer, and it amounted to (122.7) grams / m2. As for spatially, the Yarmouk neighborhood recorded the highest amount of dust falling, and it amounted to (139.95) grams / m2, due to dust storms, the city’s proximity to the Western desert, and the poverty of the soil. And the lack of vegetation that reduces the severity of dust storms.

2- The results of the research indicate a high concentration of suspended particles,
