This study examines the letters of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) to Muawiya from the perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis, following Teun van Dijk’s socio-cognitive approach. It focuses on deconstructing the discursive and semantic structures employed by the Imam to affirm his legitimacy and undermine that of his opponent, through cognitive representations, collective memory, and symbolic constructions of the self and the other. The study reveals how language functions in the production of hegemony and the reshaping of collective consciousness within the context of early Islamic political conflict.
