This study aimed to identify the effect of using instructional aids on learning the lay-up shooting skill in basketball among first-year female students in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. The researcher adopted an experimental method using a control and an experimental group design. The sample consisted of (30) students, equally divided into two groups. The instructional aids involved basketball targets with varying heights, lower than the official regulation height. Pre- and post-tests were conducted to assess skill performance. The results revealed statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group in the post-test, indicating the effectiveness of instructional aids in improving the learning of the lay-up shot skill. The study recommended incorporating instructional aids into practical lessons due to their positive impact on facilitating learning and enhancing students’ motivation.
