Abstract

The significance of this research lies in the use of varied high-intensity power training exercises in a more comprehensive, systematic, and precise manner for basketball players under 19 years of age. Accordingly, the researcher designed a set of specialized high-intensity power training exercises for basketball players in this age category. These exercises targeted specific muscle groups, and their effects on selected motor abilities and anaerobic power were investigated Research Objectives To design high-intensity power training exercises and investigate their effects on selected motor abilities and anaerobic power in basketball players under 19 years of age To identify the effects of high-intensity power training exercises on selected motor abilities and anaerobic power in basketball players under 19 years of age The researcher adopted the experimental method using a one-group design with pre-test and post-test measurements, as this design was considered appropriate for the research procedures The research sample consisted of 10 male basketball players under 19 years of age from Al-Kut Sports Club. An additional five players from the same source population were selected to participate in the pilot experiments the main experiment involved implementing specialized high-intensity resistance training exercises designed to meet the demands of basketball performance. The exercises targeted the lower limbs, core muscles, and upper limbs. The training programme incorporated performance-specific muscular actions and different resistance-training loads, while considering the movement patterns and mechanical demands of basketball.

Following the presentation, analysis, and discussion of the results, the researcher concluded that high-intensity power training exercises had a positive effect on the development of the variables investigated. The exercises simulated the natural movement patterns and biomechanical characteristics of basketball performance, particularly the sequencing of movements, thereby contributing to improved levels of player performance.

Considering these conclusions, the researcher recommends incorporating high-intensity power training exercises into basketball training programmes because of their substantial contribution to the development of selected motor abilities
