Abstract

Recently, parked vehicles (PVs) have emerged as a new computing paradigm to assist the limited resources of the fog node (FN) in the task offloading process. The underutilized resources of PV have become a primary feature that attracts many researchers to propose various task offloading schemes and approaches. Existing work primarily focuses on exploiting PV resources to optimize delay, energy, and cost in the task offloading process. This review article describes related work published between 2018 and 2025. Specifically, we have recognized and classified the diverse approaches and task offloading schemes that have been established according to their objectives. In addition, we discuss some research challenges and open issues in collaborative FN-PV task offloading schemes.
