Abstract

The current study aims to test the impact of Porter's strategies and their role in achieving competitive advantage in dairy industry organizations in the Middle Euphrates region. It was based on a three-dimensional scale with regard to Porter's strategies, and with the same number of dimensions, the competitive advantage was tested. The researchers focused the study's problem on: Do Porter's strategies have a role in achieving competitive advantage?

The study gains its importance by shedding light on two variables of great importance at the level of the sample studied, in addition to its academic importance, as studying these variables (Porter’s strategies and competitive advantage) is an urgent necessity at the beginning of the twenty-first century after it created a state of unprecedented multiplicity of consumer tastes. Awareness in choosing the product and service is one of the beneficiary’s priorities. The goal of the study was achieved in its applied aspect through the researchers relying on the questionnaire as the main study tool by collecting data, which included 21 questions distributed between 9 questions specific to Porter’s strategies, and 12 questions related to competitive advantage.

The study targeted dairy industry organizations within the private sector, operating in the Middle Euphrates region, and the sample on which the test was based was a purposive sampling method, targeting the organizations’ managers and sub-managers, and the focus was primarily on the marketing departments, and through the statistical program SPSS, the results were analyzed. The study came out with a number of conclusions, the most important of which was the existence of a significant relationship between Porter's strategies and competitive advantage with risks. The researchers also recommended that the business organizations under study rely on Porter's strategies to achieve excellence in performance
