The research aims to study the vision of the thinker Muhammad Shahrour for the renewal of Islamic thought, with a focus on his critical methodology. The research discusses the main axes of Muhammad Shahrour's intellectual project, such as the contemporary reading of the Holy Quran, criticism of the jurisprudential heritage, and redefining Islamic terms.
The research is based on reading his basic works. In addition, the research sheds light on how Shahrour employs the linguistic and historical approach to understand religious texts in a way that suits the requirements of the modern era. The research also highlights the importance of the concepts of freedom and rationality in his vision as central tools for overcoming the intellectual stagnation that religious discourse experiences.
