This research deals with the challenges of Russian foreign policy towards Libya, which makes its position towards Libya a sensitive one. These challenges varied and took shape in different forms, including local, regional and international ones. These challenges were not limited to a specific field, but rather were various political, security and economic challenges that Russia faced. There were many major challenges after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, and these challenges were at the internal and external levels. As can be understood, Russian foreign policy in Libya came for the sake of interests in that strategic mission logic, and through the countries of North Africa and Libya in particular, Russia seeks to return to its global position among the major powers. Several challenges emerged in Libya that affected Russian foreign policy after 2011. These challenges have various sources, including internal, regional, and international, and they have been affected by Russian foreign policy.
