Abstract

Family planning is a cornerstone of reproductive health services, which in turn contributes to improved women's health. Given the significant role of women in Iraq, stemming from their participation in numerous social, economic, and political spheres, and the urgent need to strengthen and sustain this role to ensure women's full enjoyment of their rights, it is essential to provide them with all possible support through improved health services, particularly those related to family planning. This research aims to conduct a comprehensive study of family planning in the holy city of Karbala. Through fieldwork conducted in the study area, families' attitudes toward family planning, specifically whether they practice it or limit their births, were examined. The results indicate that 50.6% of families practice family planning, with a higher percentage (50.7%) in urban areas compared to 49.4% in rural areas.
