Commitment to the rule of appropriateness in the play "Al-Hussein as a martyr" by Abdul Rahman Al-Sharqaw

Pragmatics paid great attention to the principle of cooperation established by Grice, this principle represents an innate value represented by human behavior, as commitment to this principle between the parties to the discourse represents the success of communication and reaching the stages of understanding between them. Grice established four rules for the principle of cooperation, and stated that failure to adhere to these rules will generate dialogical implication. Grice believes that in order for the principle of cooperation to achieve its goal, the dialogue must be committed to the principle of cooperation and its rules. The researcher addressed the aspect of commitment to the rule of appropriateness in the play “Al-Hussein, a Martyr” by Abdul Rahman Al-Sharqawi, as the researcher showed examples of the author’s commitment to the rule of appropriateness in the play by citing different examples of the play’s dialog.
