finasteride, cortisol, testosteroneAbstract
finasteride is a medication used in the treatment of androgenic alopecia in both males and females, as well as in the management of benign prostatic hyperplasia ((BPH) in males. the study aimed to investigate the effects of finasteride on serum cortisol and testosterone levels. Female wister rats were used as the experimental model. Forty-five female rats were divided into control and treatment groups .Hormone levels were measured using ELISA kits for cortisol and testosterone. Finasteride significantly reduced cortisol levels in treated rats compared to cortisol . At the same time. testosterone levels increased in a dose-dependent manner. Finasteride alters adrenal and gonadal hormones by lowering cortisol and elevating testosterone. these findings highlight its broader impact on endocrine regulation.
