The role of kindergartens in developing the child’s social and educational skills

Abstract

The research aimed to explain the role of kindergartens in developing the child's social and educational skills. The research sample consisted of (120) parents of children in public and private kindergartens in the city of Damascus, according to the research variables (academic qualification, type of kindergarten). The researcher relied on the descriptive analytical method, and the researcher applied a questionnaire of her own design to the research sample.

The research reached the following results:

1- Educational skills ranked first in kindergarten from the point of view of the research sample members, followed by social skills in second place.

2-There are no statistically significant differences between the average scores of parents’ answers recorded in the educational skills dimension according to the educational level variable.

 3-There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of parents’ answers to the questionnaire according to the type of kindergarten variable in favor of private kindergartens.

The research came up with a set of proposals, including: working to reduce the difficulties facing teaching skills to children in kindergartens, and conducting studies examining the role of kindergarten in developing skills (cognitive, educational, physical, etc.).
