Abstract

The industrial sector occupies the forefront in the structure of the national economy of both developed and developing countries, which seek to achieve advanced economic levels. Which qualifies it to be among the emerging industrial countries, but Iraq is one of the least developed countries in the world, and that the industrial sector in it is still backward, and suffers from severe weakness, and the deterioration of all its industrial facilities, as a result of the difficult conditions that this sector was exposed to during The past decades are represented by wars and destruction, the deterioration of the security and political situation of the country, the exposure of its facilities to acts of destruction and looting, the obsolescence of equipment and production lines, their failure to keep pace with technological developments, and the growing role of administrative and financial corruption in the country, which negatively affected its weakening, its inability to compete in local markets, and its weak productivity. . In order to evaluate the performance of the industrial sector, it is necessary to determine the reality of its industrial facilities by analyzing some economic indicators based on the data published by the Ministry of Planning / Central Statistics Organization, Department of Industrial Statistics for the period (2004-2018). The study showed through the analytical presentation of indicators, standards Adopted in the performance evaluation, the low efficiency of the performance of the industrial sector in Iraq during the study period, and it did not witness a great development, and was not at the required level in supporting the national economy, meeting the local demand for industrial goods and products, and the low percentage of its contribution to the gross domestic product
