Allegations of Misconduct

Guidelines of Al-Ghary Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences Regarding Scientific Misconduct

Al-Ghary Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences is keen on the principle of monitoring and following up all cases of erroneous research misconduct, and following all available procedures and means in order to prevent the publication of non-uniform research with a single research behavioral methodology. The journal also seeks to maintain the highest ethical standards for the scientific materials it publishes. For this purpose, the journal followed the international standards and guidelines that (COPE) is keen to implement.  For this position, regarding the specific ethical aspects of incorrect research behavior and reporting on it, Al-Ghary Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences provides the authors with a set of directions regarding the ethical standards that all researchers must abide by in their submitted research and scientific papers, and defines the framework of procedures  to be taken in case of violating these standards.

Al-Ghary Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences is very painstaking towards scientific research misconduct and tracks all available means to prevent the spread of this erroneous phenomenon. Although there is no standard definition of research misconduct, the Council of Science Editors defines research misconduct broadly in three categories of actions and behaviors. Al-Ghary Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences uses this definition of misconduct in handling this issue and strictly follows the Scientific Publication Ethics (COPE) in dealing with research misconduct, as follows:

1- Mishandling of research subjects.
2- Forging and fabricating data.
3- Piracy and plagiarism

The most prominent examples of scientific misconduct could be:

  • Violation the research ethical standards: failure to adhere to the correct scientific standards and criteria set by the journal for writing research care for the human aspect.
  • Fabrication and forgery of scientific data and information contained in the research paper. Forgery is defined as the manipulation of research materials to reach a favorable result, for example, changing the ratios of data, manipulating the scientific results of some research, using ready-made scientific materials without referring to their original owners, which is what we call (Scientific Text plagiarism) and other cases.
  • Repeated publication of the same research paper, meaning that many researchers publish the same scientific material in different journals and this is what the journal considers a violation and contradiction of the principle of transparency in scientific publishing and duplicity in publishing research data.
  • Manipulating the names of the authors: meaning that there are cases in which researchers delete the original author of the article or add an author who did not originally participate in writing the research, which is called (guest author).

Journal’s Procedures regarding scientific misconduct

Al-Ghary Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences undertakes moving forward in dealing with cases of moral misconduct in all its cases by following certain procedures such as:

  • Using all means to detect plagiarism in terms of quality assurance, including returning research,  in which the percentage of plagiarism is more than 15% , to the author to remove similarities and reduce the opportunity for plagiarism. Al-Ghary Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences emphasizes that all research is subject to cases of correct citation according to specific scientific mechanisms that are subject to (COPE) standards and guidelines.
  • Emphasizing the researchers' responsibility for the content of their research paper regarding scientific misconduct even after the research has been published.
  • Emphasizing the selection of qualified editors specialized in the scientific field for the research paper, and sending the research paper to more reviewer for review again, thus subjecting the research to a new stage or round of review.
