The development of the production of strategic grain crops (wheat, barley, rice, yellow corn) in Iraq faces a set of natural and human determinants that have affected its food security and then the political and economic security of the state. Filling the production shortfall through imports to meet the consumption requirements, this policy taken by the Iraqi state exposes the state to food dependency on foreign countries, as well as wasting hard currency abroad, which affects the sovereignty of the state and weakens its strength.
