Abstract

The issuance of the municipal fees law in 1931 in Iraq coincided with the deterioration of the economic situation due to the repercussions of the global economic crisis that lasted from 1929 to 1933, which led to mass strikes in the various cities of Iraq, and this strike is considered one of the great mass events that shook the government Al-Iraqiya, being a general strike that covered large areas of the country, has transformed from a professional-economic event into a comprehensive political act that moved most groups of society at one time. The political conditions were ripe for the strike, especially after the Iraqi opposition rejected the 1930 treaty between the Iraqi government and the British government.
