Abstract

Russia and Japan are neighbors, but their relations are often described as close geographically and politically distant, and the problem of the Kuril Islands is one of the difficult issues that prevent Russia and Japan from improving their relations, so the conclusion of any friendship treaty will remain a daunting task, and resolving the dispute will be necessary for both parties to find a solution Mediation and acceptable and by an honest international party accepted by both parties to the conflict, so that it can be relied upon to find political guarantees for both parties, and economic, political and even military interests push all parties towards a consensual formula of solution, and geopolitics contributes the bulk of dissolving the dispute and highlighting interests, so it will be its role effective in this conflict.
