Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan aspired to monopolize power since the first day he set foot in the land of the Levant, and he never attained the highest positions and reached the presidential chair until he harnessed all his moral and material capabilities in order to achieve what he had planned and drawn, and he had the end justifying the means, as he was ready for any price. He pays it even if it involves transgression against himself, or sacrificing something dear to him. This research represents a serious attempt to trace those steps that Muawiya took in order to contain his opponents on the one hand, and who he thought would help him implement his state project and achieve his dream of establishing his empire on the other hand. The research was divided into five topics. The research relied, in drawing the image it aimed at, on a set of sources and references included in the final list
