Manifestations of climatic extremism in the province of Najaf

Abstract

The phenomenon of climatic extremism is of great importance in climatic studies because of its significant effects on various aspects of life. about the phenomenon of frost and cold, so the daily weather data and its repetitions were adopted in the period (1997-2018), which is a sufficient period to track these phenomena, especially in the summer, it was exposed to extreme temperatures that exceeded (46 C) by (695 days), in addition to the rise in heat waves to (58 heat waves), as for the minimum temperatures below (1°C), they reached (59 days), while the cold waves reached (34 cold waves), while the study area was exposed to extreme winds in the hot season and transitional seasons, with a rate of (848 repetitions) in different As for the dust phenomena, it reached (112 repetitions), as it increases during two seasons: spring and summer as a result of high temperatures and the increase in the speed of extreme winds.
