Abstract

The concept of antagonistic binaries is one of the important topics that resonate in modern research studies. It has been highlighted in literary studies, which made the researcher pay attention to studying it and determining its dimensions with the ascetic poet Abi Ishaq Al-Alberi, an Andalusian poet who lived in the fifth century AH and educated the culture of his time that focused on religious aspects. In a large way, he was a scholar, a jurist, a poet, and he had a collection of poetry, the majority of which was in asceticism. According to his review, the researcher found a group of opposite dichotomies in which he expressed his thoughts and points of view, and transferred aspects of the culture of his time in the light of his treatment of this duality represented by the ego and the other, the world and the afterlife, and knowledge and ignorance as the main dichotomies from which dichotomies branched out. A section in which Al-Alberi discussed many issues related to man, his life, his survival, his strength, and his afterlife. In the light of these dichotomies, he drew a road map for the human being who seeks salvation.
