The techniques of astonishment and condensation are considered among the most important techniques of the very short story. The element of astonishment comes in the very short story as a conclusion in which the features of the story and the visions of the narrator become clear. One of the features and characteristics of this element is that it comes contrary to the context of the semantic movement of the story and thus is different and confusing to the horizon of the reader’s waiting. Condensation is what distinguishes this literary genre from other literary genres. Based on this importance, this study came to shed light on these two techniques in the fictional works of "Jumaa Al-Fakhri", in order to know the size of the contributions of these two techniques to the success of the very short story of one of its notables in the Maghreb.
