Abstract

This study dealt with the sedimentary environment of the Euphrates River and its impact on the urban expansion of the city of Samawah, as this city is located within the region of the sedimentary plain on both sides of the course of this river. Different types and characteristics of soils and sediments on both sides of the river and within the city itself. As this diversity was reflected in the sedimentary environment of the course of the river in the pattern of urban expansion of the city from its inception to the present time.
