Density index between planning and urban design

Abstract

This research was completed in 2016, to shed light on the density indicator and how it is determined in the urban planning process, and the extent of its impact on the urban design process.

The research, in its theoretical part, aims to find indicators of the relationship between the elements of urban design affected by density and its principles, as good urban design is produced by adhering to a set of general principles derived from the application of the physical elements of urban design.

The research, in its practical part, sought the assistance of a group of experts (PhD and MA) specialized in the field of architecture, urban design, and planners from architectural backgrounds.
