Abstract

Water security is one of the main requirements for achieving food security, as it directly affects the nature and quantity of agricultural production, as well as its impact on agricultural development plans used on the economic development of the country as a whole. (1)
The reason for the emergence of ancient Iraqi civilizations is mainly due to the abundance of water that Iraq enjoyed. The two immortal rivers played a major role in the successive Iraqi civilizational renaissances, and any serious imbalance in the role of these two rivers may be reflected in a large and massive way on all aspects of life in Iraq. Therefore, the water problem must be considered not on the basis of the current stage and an attempt to reach temporary solutions, but rather work must be done for the long term in an attempt to provide water and food security for the Iraqi society.
