Abstract

The importance of identifying the surface drainage patterns of the hypothetical valleys through the DEM files in the study area, which is an important agricultural area in Al-Diwaniyah governorate, as it gives a clear picture of the surface water gathering areas, which are areas for feeding groundwater, and it also indicates areas of high moisture in the soil, being low areas. This is important in agriculture, especially since the region has a dry climate, and this affects the increase in the percentage of salts in the wet areas in the summer due to the evaporation process, or the increase in the percentage of moisture in the winter due to the accumulation of rain water to the extent that the plants cannot bear on the other hand.
