Abstract

Since the beginning of the last two decades of the twentieth century, many economic and financial changes have emerged that have led to the emergence of economic and international phenomena, including, for example, the phenomenon of globalization, the information age, and economic and strategic mergers and alliances between large organizations and giant companies. For the purpose of dominating and controlling the world’s economies and controlling economic resources at the global level, these changes have led to the emergence of the so-called digital or knowledge economy. The knowledge and skills possessed by human resources at the level of business organizations have become a competitive advantage that distinguishes them from other organizations. Successful organizations are organizations that are concerned with meeting the needs and desires of their customers, exploiting opportunities and facing challenges in the external environment surrounding them to achieve the set strategic goals and searching for ways and methods through which they can confront those challenges.
Intellectual assets are among the successful and influential means that can be invested to achieve these requirements and face challenges, and through them difficulties and limitations can be overcome thanks to the creativity and innovation of human resources, in which investment has become an urgent need for business organizations at the present time to acquire skills and cognitive capabilities to enhance the value of the organization and achieve its distinguished performance. This study aims to identify intellectual capital, its importance, the theoretical frameworks for its concept, and its impact on the value of the organization. The research used the qualitative method and the quantitative method by using questionnaire forms and analyzing them using statistical methods. Also, a package of quantitative methods of analysis and comparison was used on the basis of the scientific evaluation form for the teaching staff to demonstrate the role of intellectual capital in enhancing the value of the organization. The spatial boundaries of the study included the scientific departments at Al-Mustaqbal University College/Babylon. It was concluded in this study that the process of attracting intellectual assets in all specializations to the college enhances their value and level according to international and local classifications. The research also showed the necessity of following this approach in order to provide a sufficient number of intellectual assets necessary to support the college’s scientific classification and support the outputs of students who have high academic levels for the purpose of contributing to the process of economic and administrative development.
