Abstract

Like many developing countries, Iraq faces a range of complex and accumulated development challenges that require innovative solutions and effective strategies. In this context, digital transformation emerges as a promising pathway toward achieving more inclusive and efficient sustainable development. This study aims to explore the potential roles that digital transformation can play in advancing sustainable development in Iraq, by analyzing the relationship between digital tools and the dimensions of economic, social, environmental, and institutional development. The research also proposes a set of possible scenarios to strengthen the positive impact of digital transformation in both the short and long term, including diversifying income sources, expanding financial inclusion, and applying artificial intelligence in the agricultural and service sectors. Relying on a descriptive-analytical methodology, the study concludes that digital transformation constitutes a fundamental pillar for addressing many of Iraq’s development challenges.
