Abstract

The world is witnessing at the present time the effects and threats of very serious, including rapid population growth through increased demand for natural resources as a result of the increase in consumption and production patterns this in the economic field, and all over the world. In this regard, the world should explore alternatives to it by taking into consideration the social and environmental aspects because of their great role in all sectors, and since banks represent one of those sectors and because of their influential role in achieving sustainable competitive advantage and the extent of their ability to benefit from that role in achieving sustainable growth. Where financial institutions in general and banks in particular play a prominent and mediating role between achieving economic growth and sustainable development through their contributions to providing environmentally friendly banking services and their social responsibility in reducing the consequences of carbon emissions through a system for managing the environment and society, so the study’s goal was to provide a philosophical framework And my concept of green practices and sustainable competitive advantage, and clarifying their features, the opportunities they provide, and the challenges facing their practice by banks. There are (20) banks, from which a sample of employees, comprising (120) workers, was selected. One of the most prominent conclusions was that the study sample banks apply green banking practices only in the process of evaluating the annual performance of employees, and not as a strategy that can achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. Through meetings, programs, policies and as a strategy in order to reach a sustainable competitive advantage.
