Abstract

One of the most important goals of academic institutions is to qualify students and prepare them to meet the requirements of the labor market. This requires the preparation of plans, programs, and proper guidance to ensure that the majority of students, after their graduation, obtain suitable job opportunities for them. There is no doubt that providing job opportunities for young graduates constitutes a special interest in most countries of the world, to reduce unemployment rates, as the College of Engineering/Al-Mustansiriya University has been creating policies that focus the employability of graduates on the assumption that if the student expected to graduate or the graduate becomes well qualified for work, he can To compete in the labor market and also create a career opportunity for himself. This study aimed to present the experience of the graduate qualification and follow-up unit at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustansiriya University in the field of qualification and follow-up of students expected to graduate and graduates, as an administrative formation within the college concerned with this matter and based on its responsibility to develop students’ skills. And ensuring that the labor market is supplied with qualified human competencies that will succeed in applying the knowledge and insights they received during their studies and experiencing them on the ground. The results of the study concluded that all the efforts made by the Graduate Qualification and Follow-up Unit in this regard achieved the best results during the previous period and were able to develop the graduates’ skills and prepare them for the labor market. This is clearly proven by the results, and there is no doubt that this comes as a result of the results of the seminars, workshops, and academic and professional guidance. Which was organized by the unit for graduates to enter the labor market. It is clearly evident from the results that there is a noticeable development in the students’ creative skills, as the rehabilitation and follow-up unit was able to shape the personality of the graduate in a way that enables him to have the ability and free, mature thinking and qualify him to assume duties and responsibilities.
