Abstract

The research aims to study the concept of the sword among the Arabs, showing the origin of the sword and the history of its manufacture in ancient times. It is one of the oldest metal weapons that man relied on at an early stage in his wars and fighting, which took multiple forms and different types. The development of metal weapons in the early Islamic eras became necessary due to the military conditions imposed by the many Islamic conquests spread throughout the Islamic world. Where he began to pay more attention to military equipment and to search for new advanced means and methods used in industry. As well as improving the quality of raw materials that go into making swords. During this period, the Muslims were able to learn the secrets of the iron industry, its refinement, and the extraction of steel and iron, from which the sword is made. Despite this, the manufacture of some types of Islamic swords was affected by the conquered countries.
