تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل صورة حماس في العناوين الرئيسية لوكالة بي بي سي لإظهار كيف تمثلها لغويا من خلال الكشف عن الأيديولوجيات الكامنة وراءها. ستحلل هذه الدراسة 21 عنوانًا مرتبطًا بعملية طوفان الأقصى ضد إسرائيل. وقد تم تحليل هذه العناوين بواسطة نموذج ليوين (2008) للإجابة عن تساؤلات الدراسة. ويخلص هذا التحليل إلى أن حماس يتم تضمينها في كثير من الأحيان بدلا من استبعادها.
حماس يتم تمثيلها ككيان سلبي. وتستخدم هيئة الإذاعة البريطانية في كثير من الأحيان أفعال السيطرة، والقبض، والاستيلاء، والهجوم، والسقوط، والاعتداء، والقتل، وغيرها من الكلمات المشابهة لتصوير قوات حماس كمهاجمين، وهو مصدر هذه العقلية السلبية. وبحسب التحقيق، أظهرت وكالة بي بي سي حماس كلاعب اجتماعي نشط وديناميكي على المستوى السلبي.
