Abstract

The analogy is one of the oldest expressive and rhetorical means among the Arabs. If we look at the poetry of the poets, we see the extent to which they derived this expressive performance, and its special role in expressing the purposes of their ideas in their poems. In their writings, scholars have talked a lot about its value and its place among different types of rhetorical images in expressing human emotional values. Similarity has many benefits that have taken place on the lips of ancient scholars. Including: clarification, emphasis, brevity and exaggeration. Among the ancient poets who played a tangible and clear role in expressing his feelings and conveying his feelings and thoughts, is Sharif al-Radi, the Abbasid poet. Due to the status of this great poet among the writers and the abundance of similes in his poetry collection compared to other types of graphic images, we monitored the types of similes in his divan and then, through an analytical-descriptive approach, we uncovered the most important stylistic values hidden in these similes, i.e.: clarification, emphasis , brevity, exaggeration, and in conclusion, we clarified the most important results that we reached in this study, which is that the simile was an easy and interesting method for the poet to use, and most importantly, he used it to express highlighting the relationship between him and society, and to reveal a form of his relationship with those around him, which is an expression He is honest about the realization of his hopes and dreams, or his disappointment and anxiety in society, his kind and gentle feelings, and finally the expression of his distinguished personality.
