The duality of reconciliation and struggle with time in the poetry of Abu Muslim Al-Bahlani

This study explores the dichotomy of reconciliation and struggle with time in the poetry of Abu Muslim Al-Bahlani. The paper traces each of these two relationships to identify the reasons that led to the poet’s reconciliation with time in some instances, and his struggle with time at other instances. The study deeply analyzes the poetic texts using the descriptive and analytical approach, as well as the thematic approach in order to sort the relations of reconciliation and struggle according to themes. In this paper, three images of poet’s reconciliation with time were extracted as follows: The first image is an image of pure time that does not provoke any reaction. The second is the image of the positive actor that elicits satisfaction and pleasure, while the last of which is the image of the negative actor that elicits patience and perseverance. As for Abu Muslim's struggle with time, the study explains the reasons for the different degrees of that struggle and their connection to the psychological aspect of the poet. Three images that formed the struggle of Abu Muslim with time were extracted as follows: negative description, complaint and confrontation.
The study is divided into an introduction and three sections as follows:
- Relationship between reconciliation and time.
- Relationship between struggle and time.
- Struggle shifts from complaint to confrontation.
