Building a conceptual framework for sustainable urban transformation

In this research, the general concepts of sustainable urban transformation will be addressed, and the types and levels of urban transformations that occur in cities, in addition to clarifying the relationship between sustainable urban transformation and urban sustainability, and how cities transition to sustainability by reviewing the components of sustainable urban transformation. It has continuous changes as a result of population growth and urban expansion, and these changes are of two types, including phenotypic changes that affect the external shape of the city, such as buildings, roads and spaces, and some of them are fundamental changes that are directly related to the city’s society and the environment, such as climate changes, the internal system of the city, or the style and lifestyle of the city, as A sustainable urban transformation can be achieved by addressing the problems in the city, both intrinsic and apparent, to reach sustainability. Achieving sustainable urban transformation also requires a balance between the dimensions of sustainability (social - economic - environmental) that directly affect the lives of residents, meet their needs, and increase the standard of living in cities.
