The impact of bank size on operational risk management (BIA)

The aim of our current study is to demonstrate the effect of bank size on operational risk management (BIA). The study sample represented some Iraqi banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange, and among these banks are (Commercial, Sumer), as well as Jordanian banks listed on the Amman Stock Exchange, represented by (Housing Bank, And the Arab Bank) and relying on their financial statements published in these two aforementioned markets for the period from (2004 – 2021) The study also reached results, the most important of which was that there was no significant correlation between the ownership and size of Iraqi banks and their operational risk management (BIA), while there was a significant correlation between the ownership and size of Jordanian banks and their operational risk management (BIA). The study presented several recommendations, the most important of which were: Boards of Directors develop a model to measure operational risks, using measurement tools commensurate with the size and nature of the bank’s operations and returns.
