Spatial and temporal analysis of noise pollution levels for residential neighborhoods in the Kufa district center

Abstract

The noise of residential areas is an environmental problem faced by urban societies around the world, as is the case in the study area, as this noise arises as a result of the influence of a group of sources, such as traffic, construction work, industrial activities, and recreational activities, as the continuous noise affects (continuous exposure to noise) It is harmful to the physical and psychological health of the population, as it can lead to sleep disturbances, increased levels of stress, lack of concentration, and an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Noise also affects the deterioration of the quality of life, as it can lead to a reduction in comfort and recreation in homes and the immediate surroundings.

Residential noise is an important challenge for improving the quality of life in urban communities and requires joint efforts of local governments and environmental and urban planning professionals to reduce this problem.

The research dealt with the residents of the Kufa district center and knowing their population density and population growth in order to compare it with noise levels, as well as knowing noise levels spatially and temporally according to the residential neighborhoods of the study area
