Abstract

The soil of the study area is considered a sedimentary soil, as it is located within the scope of the alluvial plain of the Al-Najaf Governorate. It is a newly formed soil resulting from sediments transported by rivers, as well as wind sediments. Thus, it is from the transported soil and not from the emerging soil. These factors are in combination with other factors. contributed to the formation of this soil, in addition to human activity and its impact on soil formation, and these factors affect the variation in the chemical properties of the organic matter of the soil, as river banks were the highest among the soil types. It was also shown that the degree of soil interaction values is moderately acidic, slightly basic, and moderately basic, and that the values of Limestone varies in the studied sites, and there is little variation in the values of calcium sulphate (gypsum), and electrical conductivity values have varied spatially. It has been observed that the soil of Katuf is of low salinity, while the soil of basins is of medium salinity, while the soil of marshes and swamps is of high salinity.
