The existence of the Sharia Supervisory Board in the perspectiveof Iraqi laws

This study dealt with the subject of the Sharia Supervisory Board in Iraqi Islamic banks. The study adopted, within its theoretical framework, the emergence of banks, how to form their Sharia board, and analyzed the reality of the Sharia bodies in them in terms of the theoretical aspect in accordance with the laws and decisions of the Central Bank of Iraq.
As for the applied aspect, the study sought to conduct an evaluation of the Sharia bodies through analyzing the laws, decisions and instructions related to this field in Iraqi laws.
The sample of the study included the Kurdistan Bank for Investment and Finance and the Cihan Bank for Investment and Islamic Finance. The evaluation of the Sharia Supervision Board included four indicators of the Commission’s decisions, an index of laws issued by it, and an indicator of the presence of the Sharia Board. Thus, the study concluded with a set of conclusions and recommendations that work towards raising the efficiency and role of the work of the Sharia Boards in Islamic banks in Iraq.
