Abstract

The political participation of Iraqi youth has had the greatest impact in achieving many positive achievements such as equality and justice, preventing authoritarianism and controlling political action by one party, or preventing many illegal actions such as exposing corruption and wasting public money, all of which enhance the people’s retention and exercise of power Through his representatives whom he chooses to express his will, and thus it is the practical expression of the voluntary social contract, not only in its theoretical concept, especially since the Iraqi people represent a large proportion of the youth of its population that reaches 60%, as it achieves the peaceful and periodic transfer of power, which creates political stability and is The desired goal that society and the state alike aspire to. As far as this matter relates to Iraq, the researcher focuses on political participation in it.

After the fall of the political authority on April 9, 2003, it became possible to practice the process of political participation for young people by releasing political freedoms, so many political groups emerged with youth orientations and civil society institutions with increasing numbers and a great role, and they are among the requirements for the establishment and success of the process of political participation, in addition to Participation of many young people to practice political work by joining political parties, participating in civil society institutions, or participating in elections.
