Abstract

This research explores the art of miniatures, an art form that flourished in or under Islamic influence, characterized by geometric designs and decorative compositions. The research problem can be formulated as follows: What are the most important characteristics of Islamic miniature art, using the Baghdad School as a model?

The significance of this research lies in highlighting the most important characteristics of Islamic miniature art in general, and the Baghdad School in particular.

The first section contains the theoretical framework, a review of previous studies, and a discussion of them. The theoretical framework comprises two subsections: the first on Islamic miniature art, and the second on the Baghdad School. It concludes with a review of previous studies and the indicators derived from the theoretical framework. The second section addresses the research methodology. The researchers adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, focusing on the works of Iraqi female artists as the research population and selecting a purposive sample of selected examples for analysis.
