The water problem in Iraq and its impact on Iraqi-Turkish economic relations

The international environment has witnessed, and continues to witness, numerous problems, foremost among them the water crisis, particularly in the Middle East. The water issue in the Middle East is of paramount importance, especially for Iraq, due to its significant vulnerability to the amount of water flowing into it, as determined by Turkey.
This research examines the water dispute between Iraq and Turkey, exploring its legal and humanitarian dimensions. Water scarcity impacts government policies and Iraq's present and future, potentially leading to serious, even catastrophic, consequences. The central problem addressed by this study is that Turkey pursues specific water policies toward Syria and Iraq, leveraging them to serve its own interests and objectives.
The research employs a historical approach to present the facts and historical events surrounding the water issue, a descriptive-analytical approach to identify variables and analyze their role and impact on Turkey's water strategy, and a probabilistic-speculation approach to formulate future scenarios for that strategy.
